Big empty apartment

Now, for the first time in 10 months I find myself alone again, and for the first time in my life, living alone in an apartment. Two words: IT SUCKS!
I dropped Daniel off at the airport early sunday morning for his flight to MD, and returned home and spent the rest of the day manaically cleaning just to have something else to put my mind on. That night I don't think I finally passed out until 1, and I left the hall light on. Yes, I am scared of the dark, and my cats make weird noises at night that make me jumpy. Last night I went to bed earlier, but I still feel sleepy this morning. I have 3 more months of this? Yuck.
It's a good job, doing good things, but still:(
Enough griping from me for now:) I assure you, I will be fine.
Side note: still working the leg issue, things are looking up again.

There is news however, both of the good sort, the bad sort, and the kind that made me go "huh."
First the bad sort (though it really isn't that bad if you put it into the right light), My beloved better half has taken a new job that will allow him to do what he does best, and enjoy it much. However, it takes him over to Iraq, so yours truely finds herself in a new position, as the one left behind. He will only be gone 3 months at a time though, so I am sure I will survive.
In good news, I have been consulting with doctors once again about my knee, and have been told that at this point what is causing the pain is most likely cartlidge, and that can be repaired. I have to go through some X-rays and another MRI to be sure, but I am confident that finally I will have a solution.
In the sort that made me scratch my head a bit, my other younger (YES you are still younger than me, though you may be bigger) brother has decided to join the Army. Odd, because I have to admit that I never thought him the sort, but his older sister joined, and his younger brother did, so he is flanked by two Army vets, not to mention the long line of them on Mum's side. Anyhows, I am proud of him and his decision, and hope that all works for him and his wife. They are due next month and I will be an Auntie:-D

In other news, I burst out crying at the doctors office last Tuesday when he expressed his doubt as to whether or not they could actually fix me. He was surprised, but please, I had my hopes all up and he had just dashed them. Am I ever going to be able to walk normally, dance, act like a normal young adult? Who knows.

Back Home Again

After yet another LONG day of driving, we are back from Texas, snug back in our own apartment. It was a fairly mundane vacation, just a week of relaxing at Daniel's parents house and kicking around doing a whole lot of nothing. It did have its interesting highlights though. We had opted to not take our 2 cats as we didn't want to subject them to the 16 hour drive, but that didn't stop me from finding a wee kitten one night while we were out for a drive in the country. After taking it home and cleaning it up, we spent the next morning chasing all over Victoria trying to find a place that would take it in. Cats are apparently not big in SE Texas and we ended up leaving her at an old friend of Daniel's. Unfortunatly she was a bit too young and ended up dying later on. Kinda a big bummer!
Tuesday night we headed out to the ranch to blow things up:) Of course, cause I am a dork and while lighting someone's sparkler had it go off in my hand, thus causing a large blister on the center of my palm. It is small now, but boy did it hurt!!
Tomorrow it is back to the grindstone, ick:( I want to sleep in some more:)

Oh dear g-d I HOPE SO! I went for a visit with my friendly hand surgeon at the VA today, and while there mentioned my knee issues as I wanted a handicapped placard so my gimpy self wouldn't have to walk so far. His reply, "we can fix that" REALLY? PLEASE? I could walk normally, maybe even dance again. Then maybe even wear my heels without pain:-D Woohooo I'm so happy, so very happy.
Oh yeah, I also go on vacay to TX tomorrow:-D One week of blissful nothingness.

Much better

I spent most of my weekend taking care of car issues, and now, unless you are looking close at my dash and console, you can't tell anything was ever wrong:-D I had the door fixed on Friday, and we spent some time price comparing stereos, and then Sunday afternoon, we took the car in and had a new radio installed, so I won't go totally insane driving back and forth to work:-D Yiipeeeee:-D

I Got robbed!!!!!!!!!!!

I went out yesterday afternoon to do some grocery shopping and run other errands. When I tried to unlock my car, I noticed that there wasn't a keyhole there, it was just a big open hole! Lo and behold I look in the window to discover that my entire console has been ripped off and my radios are gone!!!!!!!!!!! Both my nice Pioneer system and my Roadys (XT and 2, I had just upgraded). Now I discover the insurance company won't replace my Roadys ("portable") and they will only replace the Pioneer with a base model Pioneer as I no longer have the reciepts. I bought this radio well over a year ago now! ICK! ICK! and DOUBLE ICK! I feel so violated. In the mean time I have to pay a $500 deductible to fix the car, as I can't even lock it right now (Nothing is in the car). This BLOWS!
Why my car I'll never know, it's not like I had a super duper system, it was very basic!

Cool things and thunderstorms

Yesterday we had the first big storm of the monsoon season, a month early, but a monsoon none the less. Naturally, everyone here that I work with and then some were out on our covered porch at work watching the storm roll in, because it was truly a thing of beaty to watch. As the wind picked up, we were startled to see a very large hawk get blown under the roof of the porch and land. The poor thing looked hurt, and it took a few minutes for the hawk to regain it's bearings and manage to hop up to the railing and take off again. Naturally we all kept a very safe distance, but it really was the coolest thing ever, and made my day. Then the storm started for real, and after a few minutes watching and listening to the rain, a strike of lightening struck close to us and made a really LOUD clap of thunder, sending myself and my boss scurrying inside, as I really don't do loud, and she doesn't like thunder that close:) One of the guys I work with had fun later teasing me for being a wimp, saying "you're such a girl":-D Yep, last time I checked those were the body parts I still had.
Ah, I love my life:-D So normal, so fun, just peaceful:)

Train wrecks

It was awful, cringe inducing, and yet.......I couldn't look away. I was watching: The American Idol finale. There was nothing else on, and somehow my remote wandered towards Fox, and I ended up watching the last 45 minutes. For those of you who don't know, I eschew EVERY reality show out there, on the basis that most of them, are pretty dumb. Well, save for "Beauty and the Geek" THAT was just downright funny.
lordy but that was funny last night. However, I did have to mute during the golden idol for best impersonation, did they really have to let the boy sing? OUCH!

Oh and FYI, I am doing fine, even making a passing grade in math, a subject I have struggled with all my life.
