Patriotism lives on

Daniel and I went out to dinner tonight to celebrate the fact that he was hired on full time to his job from the temp service. We wanted to go somewhere nice, so we settled on the newest Japanese steakhouse in town, Benihana's. Lucky us, we got there at a very good time and were seated promptly with another group. During the course of dinner, in conversation Daniel and I said we had just moved to Tucson a few months ago after leaving the Army. At the end of dinner, when the checks were being handed out, the gentleman across the table for us, told us, "In thanks for your service, I am picking up your check"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WOW WOW WOW!!! This was just amazing to us, and to the gentleman should he read my blog, THANK YOU again.

Very nice...more of us should have the opportunity, not just for you two but for all the others who have served. My Dad was in WW2. My two sons were also in the military. Lucky for them and for me it was a quiet time, but I know the feeling.

i'm jealous... tucson AND benihanas (sp?). when i first got back from afghanistan i was riding my motorcycle from ft. carson to my apartment in denver. couldn't wait to just take a real shower and crash into my bed. i was in dcu's and it was humbling how many people honked and waved as i rode home. we don't do it for the thanks, but it's sure nice to get it, isn't it?

just stumbled across the site...

I met my medic Daughter at DFW on her R&R from Mosul and was thrilled with the reception waiting for her off the plane---I have gone several times since and like to buy a meal for military when the chance arises. I love to do that and have had the opportunity about a half dozen times. I am glad to hear it is really appreciated for what it is-- a simple way to express thanks---and thanks!
