Growing up too fast?

I just read a little blurb about how the Williams sisters wrote a book on money and dating for preteens aged 9-12. I'm sorry, SAY WHAT?!?! Dating? Between 9-12? I don't know about you all, but I know what I was doing between those ages, and I know what were my concerns, and NONE of them involved money or dating. I was too busy playing with dolls, practicing violin. I think the biggest worry I had was whether I could work my way up in the orchestra levels high enough to get to wear a taffeta dress! I have sisters aged 12, 14, 16, and 18, and I can barely imagine my 18 y/o dating, much less the younger ones. There is so much else out there! These kids these days need to quit growing up too fast! ENJOY the innocence of childhood! It seems that everything these days is focused on making kids grow up faster then they should. Clothes, music, school, don't even get me ranting about clothes. When I was growing up, my clothes covered my body, and were age appropriate! Hell, I had a freak out fit one day when my sister walked out wearing a halter top that was perfectly modest, but did have a low back. Mummy got quite the giggle out of that, she says that I am more of a prude then she is. Grrrrrr, I want my siblings to stay young and worry free as long as they can! Adult life BLOWS!

LOL. You ARE more of a prude than your Mom! ;) Of course, neither one of you are in danger of being truly prudish.

You really should get out of those clothes more often, though. ;)

No doubt. Every time I hear some grade-schooler talking about their boy/girl friend.....I end-up wanting to hide my four kids from modern media. It all comes down to the dollar being alot more powerful than morals. The younger the consumer, the more money a company is bound to reap over the life-time of the individual. 9-12 year old kids are not interested obsevers of the opposite sex. However kids are told be interested and that does fuel a natural curiousosity. Wadda mess. Can't run from it. Best a person can do for their kids is be a active, teaching, loving parent. Being, the befor mentioned, is alot tuffer than it sounds. But there is no excuse for letting Nickalodian and MTV or BET raise your kids. ARRRGGG!!! I'm preaching!!!! I told myself I wouldnt preach!!! LOL.

Hey kiddo. How are ya? I know why your Mom is laughing, and it isn't because she thinks you are a prude. Remember all those times when you had a disagreemnt and she would say, "Wait until you grow up and kids of your own!"? Even if she never actually said it, she was thinking of it!

Well, now she is sitting back and remembering all those times! It is funny to her, as it will be for you. It is a rite of passage. Don't fight it. Just realize it.

Now, as for the article, I totally agree with YOU! I would only suggest that you take a chance and try to find out how many of those books actually sold!

We will win this fight against the schools with homeschooling. We will win this fight against planned parenthood with Church and good common sense. We will this fight against what our children wear, because we are the ones who control the money. Hehehe. So there! on them! :)
